What Is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki, meaning
Universal Life Force Energy.
Reiki is the practice of transmitting universal healing energy through the Practitioners hands, based on simple, ancient healing techniques. Reiki is an intelligent energy, it balances and harmonises and goes where it is needed.
A Reiki treatment is one of the most pleasurable experiences one can have. As the energy flows you may see colours, feel deeply relaxed and experience varying temperature changes in the practitioners hands as they make light contact with your body.
Reiki Treatments
When you
first meet your Reiki Practitioner, they will take down some basic details and a
brief medical history. All information is held in the strictest of confidence.
You will then be asked to remove your shoes and any jewellery and lay on the
couch.
Your treatment will
be accompanied by relaxing music in a comfortable room lit with candles. Incense
is burnt, however you can request that it is not used if you prefer.
Reiki promotes a deep relaxation and releases any blockages within the mental,
emotional and physical bodies. This release of tension then allows the natural
flow of energy though the body and releases toxins and waste products as the
blockages exit. Once these blockages are removed, the patient can then receive,
hold and store more energy.
After a
treatment you may feel very calm and deeply relaxed. Sometimes you may feel
energised, and at others you may feel tired. Remember to try and drink water
frequently over the next 24 hours in order to continue flushing out the toxins,
as the energy will continue to work after treatment.

Some Important Points
· Your Reiki Practitioner is fully qualified, trained and insured to give treatments.
· During your treatment you will remain fully clothed. No massage or oils are used.
· Reiki is a complimentary treatment and can enhance existing treatments for illness.
· Your Reiki Practitioner is not qualified to diagnose physical illness.
· Reiki is not to be used as an alternative to prescribed medications.
· If you are being treated by your GP for a medical condition it is advisable to tell them that you are having Reiki therapy.
